How to leave the house

Here's how to clean up and secure the house when your visit is over.

  1. Boat-house:
    1. Remove all furniture from sun-deck; place inside screen porch.
    2. Make sure the grill gas-tank is turned off.
    3. Remove and take (or trash) any perishables from the refrigerator.
    4. Take out trash and re-cycling.
    5. Close and latch the windows.
    6. Make sure the boats are secured: kayaks and paddles to the right of the lower deck entry door, pontoon on lift, canoe on its hoist.
    7. Remove and stow the swim ladder on the swim deck (swim deck is on lake side of boathouse).
  2. Main house:
    1. In the summer, leave the thermostat on Cool, at about 80 degrees. In the winter, spring and fall, leave the thermostat on Heat, at about 55 degrees.
    2. Don’t leave any perishables in the refrigerator; take them with you or throw them away.
    3. Trash and recyclables (glass, paper, cardboard, cans (aluminum and steel), scrap metal): either take them home with you, or take them to the Lake Burton Recycling Center, which is on Charlie Mountain Road, about one mile south (to the right) of its intersection with Timpson Cove Road. They have bins for the recyclable materials, and a trash dumpster.

  1. Bring your own sheets and towels (queen for downstairs and master upstairs; twins for guest room) Take home your own laundry. No washing involved. M/G
