Learning turning

Got a Jet JWL-1236 lathe off Craigslist in January, and have been learning turning the old-fashioned, trial-and-error way. Plus, making an unbelievable mess of my half of the garage!

Box elder

Basket-weave vessel; plywood and pine.
Dogwood stump (referring to the bowl).
Same bowl as above, after some finishing work.
Segmented, lidded box, of leopard wood,
ambrosia maple, and padauk.

Lidded oak box. Bottom line is the lid-base seam;
two lines above that are scribed.
Showing lid and base.

Plywood lidded box.

Small walnut turned bowl.

Natural edge on one side.

Natural-edge hickory bowl, from Camp Wewant.

Box elder bowl. Lots of spalting.
Segmented pot: mahogany, plywood, maple.
Segmented pot on the lathe; bottom half has been rounded,
top half is still octagons, as assembled.
