Angel Falls and Panther Falls

George at trailhead on Lake Rabun Road
A short hike up Joe Creek, from the Rabun Beach Recreation Area on the north side of Lake Rabun, takes you to two waterfalls, Panther and Angel.

You can start the trail from the backside of Campground No. 1, when it is open; if closed, there is a sign marking the trailhead on Lake Rabun Road, on the east side of the National Forest property. The trail is about a mile; you reach Panther Falls, then continue on a steeper section, about a quarter mile, to Angel Falls. This video shows Angel Falls.

From our cottage, go right on Charlie Mountain Road to the end, right on Bridge Creek to the end, left on Lake Seed Road, which becomes Lake Rabun Road, to the Rabun Beach Recreation Area (12.4 miles). Besides the trail to the falls, there are two campgrounds, a boat launch, and a picnic and fishing area.
